We grow six grape varieties from 21 hectares (52.5 acres) in our ten cool climate vineyards at Oakbank.
Sally’s Folly Sauvignon Blanc, planted 1997 – Over 3 hectares (7.5 acres) with F4V6 clone on a northerly aspect at 375 to 390 metres altitude.
Sally’s Folly Chardonnay, planted 1997 – Over 2.3 hectares (5.75 acres) with IV10 clone on a northerly aspect at 375-400 metres altitude.
Cobb’s Hill Riesling, planted 1998 – Over 1.5 hectares (3.75 acres) with GM198 clone on a westerly aspect at 350-400 metres altitude.
Cobb’s Hill Sauvignon Blanc, planted 1998 – Over 1.3 hectares (3.25 acres) with F4V6 clone on a westerly aspect of 380-400 metres altitude.
Greenleaf Pinot Noir, planted 2001 – Planted over 2.5 hectares (6.25 acres) with three clones, 114 and 115 on the westerly and easterly slopes and a small Pinot patch of 777 on the southern slope at 400-425 metres altitude.
Greenleaf Pinot Gris, planted 2001 – Over 1.6 hectares (4 acres) on a north easterly aspect at 410-450 metres altitude.
Greenleaf Chardonnay, planted 2001 – Over 1.8 hectares (4.5 acres) with IV10 clone on a northerly aspect at 425-460 metres altitude.
Windmill Sauvignon Blanc, planted 2005 – Over 1.8 hectares (4.5 acres) with F4V6 clone on the north easterly aspect at 385-405 metres altitude.
Cobb’s Hill Riesling, planted 2017 – Over 1 hectare (2.5 acres) with cuttings from our Cobb’s Hill Riesling 1998 vineyard on the same hillside.
Oakwood Shiraz, planted 2017 – Over 4.2 hectares (10.5 acres) with four clones on the northerly aspect 380-425 metres altitude, running 200 metre rows, from Oakwood Road to Cock Creek. The Oakwood Shiraz block comprises 2 hectares (5 acres) of clone 1654, 2 hectares (5 acres) of clone 470 and cool climate cuttings of 0.2 hectare (0.5 acre) of 1880 planted vines from Eden Valley, South Australia.
Moving from our vineyards to add wines is a natural next step. After all as Baroness Philippine de Rothschild said, “wine making is really quite a simple business, only the first 200 years are difficult”.
